EMICIDA

One of the most respected and influential names in Brazilian music, Emicida is on a mission to recover Brazil’s Black history while advocating for social justice. The Latin Grammy winner initially garnered attention for his impromptu rhymes on São Paulo’s street battle scene where his words turned into mix tapes. Now, more than a decade into his career, the rapper has reached over 250 million plays on Spotify and 260 million views on YouTube; has performed at festivals like Coachella, Rock in Rio, and Montreux Jazz; recorded with artists such as Caetano Veloso, Ibeyi, and Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra; and released a critically acclaimed Netflix documentary, AmarElo. Through songs rooted in hip-hop but inspired by the essence of samba, Emicida speaks of love, agency, and hope while urging for a new Brazil.
