Community Engagement
In alignment with our mission to build bridges across diverse communities and create global cultural awareness, World Music/CRASHarts looks to deepen the experience between artist and audience.
As part of the “Final Journey Tour” with Johnny Clegg in October, we hosted an artist’s talk with Johnny Clegg facilitated by Marco Werman from NPR’s The World. Johnny shared stories of his cross-cultural experimentation with Zulu music and dance during the repressive climate of apartheid in South Africa, played a little acoustic guitar, and spoke of meeting Nelson Mandela.
The winter/spring season offers an array of workshops, salon talks, and special events with our visiting international artists. Most events are free and open to the public, so we hope you will join us! Watch for specific details of these engagement activities in January, or visit the World Music/CRASHarts’ event page.
